17-playgroupPlaytime Friends ceased their activities at the end of 2007 due to a decline in numbers.

Playtime Friends was established some years ago in the Holy Spirit Parish for two primary reasons:

  1. To give pre-school children the opportunity to socialize with similar aged children with the security of having their carers present.
  2. To give the children’s carers (mainly mums), the opportunity to meet with other carers in a social setting.

The group met every Monday between 10am and 12pm. The groups’ activities revolved around the particular needs of the people in attendance. Playtime Friends had two organized outings a term.

They gave the children time to experience many activities eg. cooking, art and craft, playing games. There was also time for the adults to enjoy morning tea in relative relaxation!

Playtime Friends was not affiliated with the Playgroup Association.

Family Groups

The Passionist family Groups were established in Holy Spirit in 1983. St. Clair was a new community and young families lived away from their extended families. There was a need for families to get to know each other and to build community at that time. Family groups gave them a connection with other people sharing similar Christian and family values.

Families come together on a monthly basis for simple low cost family activities e.g. BBQs, picnics, games nights, birthdays, baptisms. Outings are planned to suit families in each group. Groups are made up of about 8-10 families. Friendships and networks develop. Family groups come together at Church to support community building by providing morning tea each month, and leading the singing as a choir group. Groups try to go away annually to a low cost location to support and get to know each other better.

New members are always welcome. Ring the parish office for a contact number.
